I Was Lonely in Romania… Until This Happened
Coming back to Romania after years abroad wasn’t the homecoming I expected. My friends had moved on, my weekends were quiet, and I often felt like a stranger in my own city.
At one point, I joined a local Meetup group and even helped grow it—only to be suddenly removed without warning. It stung. But it also sparked something powerful in me.
In October 2010, I started my own group. What began as a small French meetup turned into something much bigger: Expats in Romania, a community for anyone feeling a bit lost, lonely, or just craving real connection.
If you’re new in town, returning home, or just want to meet people who get it — come join us!
