We stay where we’re needed – another great post by Dan Osvat

Good morning everyone!
We stay where we’re needed.
Where we’re expected.
Where we’ve always been.
Because leaving feels disloyal. Because routine feels safe. Because we’ve been taught that sacrifice is somehow synonymous with strength.
But let’s be honest—there’s a difference between being needed and being nourished.
Between loyalty and belonging.
At some point, you have to ask:
Who’s feeding your soul while you hold everything together for everyone else?
Some people stay out of duty.
Some out of guilt.
Some because they don’t realize there’s another way to live.
But life isn’t about staying in environments that just keep you functioning.
It’s about finding spaces—even unexpected ones—that make you feel alive again.
I come from the deep north of Canada—forests, ice, vast silences that teach you to listen inward.
And now I’m here in Romania, surrounded by old hills and timeless roads, building something entirely different.
Not just a new life—
A right-sized life.
A life that gives something back.
Lately, I’ve been sitting with the quiet realization that some things in my own life needed adjusting again.
Not dramatic changes—just small, intentional shifts.
I’ve set those ideas into motion.
It feels like I’m back at the pottery wheel—hands dirty, reshaping the clay, rebalancing the form, refining the purpose.
Not because what I built before was wrong.
But because it’s time to rework the shape of what’s next.
That’s the thing with growth:
It doesn’t always roar in. Sometimes, it’s just a whisper that says,
“Let’s try this differently.”
Small tweaks.
Subtle alignments.
But always with the goal of building better.
A future that fits more honestly, more intentionally.
So no, this isn’t about running.
It’s about recognizing when you’ve outgrown a place, a role, or a version of yourself.
And having the nerve to leave the familiar—not because it failed you, but because you’re finally ready to build something truer.
Go where your soul is fed.
Even if it means starting over.
Especially if it means starting over.
As always, just my thoughts and opinions.
